energy and put it to work on top of a
ranch horse in a timed event and
you’ve got a show worth watching.
On the web you can find the individual
team members bios. Under the
7L team, Billie Franks offers a favorite
quote, as graceful a piece of wisdom to
compete by as any. "The fact is that
winning and losing is part of every
sport. If you want to do one well, then
you have to learn to do the other
gracefully.” One can only imagine the
emotions shared by women who exalt
in their own success as much as they
empathize with a friend’s loss. It must
make the striving all the sweeter.
At a time when young women in
America need role models, could it be
that the WRRA provides the grace,
style, courage and discipline that’s
missing from many young girl’s lives?
Not everyone can live on a ranch, but
many can benefit from sharing in the
fun and be inspired. Billie Frank’s husband
likes to brag, “It’s been said that
the only event missing from the
Women's Ranch Rodeo is judging who
can cook the best meal while
sorting/roping and branding! You
know, just like at home.”
