XR3000 indicator does way more than display a weight. It
collects such things as weights, average daily gain, Visual
ID, Electronic ID, Premise ID, breed, date of birth, sex, vaccines,
and much more. It has a memory of 50,000 head,
Unlike the balance beam and dial scales of the old days, today’s digital
indicators have microprocessors with software that take hundreds
of readings per second and will ‘Lock On’ the animal’s weight
even as the animal moves around in or on the platform or chute. The
advanced EID Model Indicators offered by Digi-Star can collect RFID
tag IDs and store them for later export into a spreadsheet or other
data management software program back in the ranch office.
and features sorting capabilities to group animals into uniform

SILENCE IS GOLDEN
John Mollhagen, President of Moly Manufacturing,
knows the importance of designing a well built chute that
is safe for both the cattle and the handlers. Mollhagen and
his team at Moly Manufacturing work hard to design equipment
that minimizes the stress on cattle. Their Silencer
hydraulic squeeze chutes are designed so that various
brands of livestock scales can be incorporated into them.
Silencer chutes are designed so that the load bars can be
positioned either overhead or on the floor. “The overhead
system is the most bullet proof because the load bars are less
likely to be in contact with manure and other moisture,”
explains Mollhagen. “The number one enemy in scale systems
is water and manure and the number one issue with
electronic scales is keeping the wires clear and free of debris.
You don’t want them to get pinched.”
Many of the Silencer chutes are equipped with Avery
Weigh-Tronix scales. Dave Swanson, the product manager
